The Electronic Tapper System (ETS) connects a transmitter installed in the score clock with a referee's ETS bracelet. The base and bracelet are set to the appropriate mat number so referees can move between mats and change their bracelets to match the mat they are working on. Watch the videos below for a walkthrough of the ETS setup and operation, or follow the instructions in this article.
Install the ETS base
Before beginning, place the clock on its stand without connecting power or any other cables.
- Remove the three 7/16-inch aluminum acorn nuts and washers from the top of the clock.
- Rotate the clock so the panel facing you has the upgrade bays facing you.
- Set the lid offset from the panels so you can slide the panels up and out.
- Remove the clear panel.
- Remove the display circuit cards. This gives you access to the clock's upgrade bays.
- Bolt the transmitter to the exterior-most bay with the circuit board facing outward.
- Take one of the power cords removed from the panels and plug it into the power outlet.
- Connect the provided 6-pin jumper cable to the power output on the ETS base card.
- Connect the other end of the 6-pin jumper cable to the panel where the original power cable was connected. Power will pass through the ETS base card and back to the panel.
- Unplug the buzzer from the control board.
- Plug the buzzer into the Buzz Out connection.
- Use the provided 5-pin jumper cable to connect the control board's buzzer output to the Buzz Input on the ETS base card.
- Reassemble the clock.
Set the mat number on the ETS base
Typically, the ETS base is set to the mat number. As referees rotate between mats, they can change their bracelets to match the mat they are working on.

To set or change the mat number:
- Press and hold both push buttons for three seconds to unlock the setting. The numbers will flash when the mat number is ready to be changed.
- Press the individual buttons to increase or decrease the mat number.
- When the correct mat number is displayed, press and hold both buttons for three seconds to save it.
- Confirm that the numbers stop flashing, indicating that the setting has been locked in.
The mat number is saved if the clock loses power.
Charge the ETS bracelet
Charge each ETS bracelet for at least one hour before the event starts using the provided USB charger.
Set the mat number on the ETS bracelet
The bracelet needs to be set to the same mat number as the ETS base for the mat where it will be used.
- Press and hold both push buttons for three seconds to unlock the setting. The bracelet will vibrate when the mat number is ready to be changed.
- Press the individual buttons to increase or decrease the mat number.
- When the correct mat number is selected, press and hold both buttons for three seconds to save it.
- The bracelet will vibrate again when the setting has been locked in.
The bracelet's mat number is saved if it loses power.
